The touch screen alarm panel is neat, what all functions can it do?

It is! we are very excited about this product. It litterally ties into your entire home. It has the ability to tell your smart phone when the kids come home, when you have an alarm to your phone as well as the display on your keypad, has complete home automation tied into your phone and alarm system.

Where are you liscensed to do installations?

Currently we are liscensed to do work in Iowa, Nebraska. Each state has its own liscenses, and infact, each city might. For example Omaha, Lincoln, and Des Moines require a fee for the alarm monotoring company. The state of Iowa requires a burgulary liscense, that is enforced by the state fire marshals office. Nebraska is expected to follow suite in the next 5 years.

What is home automation?

Home automation is the ability from your smartphone or computer to remotely do daily functions of the home. For example from your phone, with a light modual installed, you can turn off lights, or check the tempature of your home. If you are on vacation it can even turn your lights on and off and set your thermostate from the comfort of your smartphone.

My system is malfunctioning, how do I disable it?

Well it depends. Most systems, have a large metal box, with a key or screw in a closet or basement with a back up battery. Go to the box location, open the lid. If it has a key please check on top of the box for the key or call the store manager if you are working in a commercial setting. Just pull the red lead off the battery. Also, all systems have a transformer. They look like a brown or white box. Just go to where it is plugged in at and unplug the system. Please be near a phone, because you will receive a call from the monitoring center regarding your system's loss of power.

What is the difference between an alarm dealer and 4GAlarms?

Alarm dealers are usually small companies that sell the length of the contract to a large nation wide chain company. Usually you will have many different small companies that compete with each other to sell your monthly monitoring to a large nationwide company. 4GAlarms is a locally owned company that is a direct competitor to the large national chains. We are not considered to be a dealer.

Will you run a bunch of wires threw my house or is my alarm wireless?

We can install many different models. We can use the exsisting wireing if you have any, add wireless equipment. Typically any home automation is wireless, and our goal is to meet your needs as the customer. Making you happy is our number one goal.

I had a door to door salesman, come to my door and said my system is out of date, or that they acquired my current alarm company and needs to update my equipment. Is this true?

Absolutely not! Some equipment may age but usually it works for many many years. And usually updates are gradual and alarm receivers can handle them. If your current alarm company is acquired, you will receive a letter in the mail indicating that with instructions. Some companies may only use certain brands of alarm panels. Most of the usual door to door salesman are actually from out of state, leave the area after install, sign you to large 5 year contracts.  These contracts are enforceable even when there is no one locally to service you. Read your contract and make sure that its the industry standard 3 years.

I have a system installed by another company, and they told me that if I went to a competitor, they would rip out my system, is that true?

Some equipment  is leased. Read your contract. Most companies just use this as a way to deter you going to another company. Some companies will actually "lockout" or sell equipment only they can monitor. The actual wiring in your home is considered a home improvement and can not be removed from your home. If they sold you a leased system, we will install a new system that you own, and put theirs in a box that they can come and collect. Chances are they wont come pick up the equipment and you will have to dispose of it.

Do I have to have a home telephone line for my alarm system?

No you don't. With the change in technology, we can use the cell tower network and your broadband internet. However, these communication methods usually cost a little more on your monthly bill, and may have an extra equipement cost.

I only have a cell phone, does the cell communicator use my cell minutes?

No, when you have a cell unit installed, it is installed on the AT&T cell network. All alarm companies have no choice but to install equipment that uses the AT&T network and communicates over the cell towers.
